From Gerbier de Jonc, you cycle on the beautiful scenic route of the Mézenc.
Along some of the most spectacular French volcanic hills named “Sucs”, you will arrive at St-Clément with breathtaking views of the Alps. Leaving the village behind, a sinuous descent brings you to Chapelle sous Chanéac and Chanéac.
In the 19th century , Chanéac had lot of spinning factories, the pure waters of the Ardèche mountains were perfect for the processing of silk yarn. Today, only the water continues to flow to provide the village with its water.
Having passed the checkpoint, you will climb to the pass of the L’Ardéchoise, a short descent and all your efforts will by rewarded at your entry in Borée.
Borée with its animal reserve (marmot colony) and flowers (170 species of rare plants) is proud to have the oldest beech tree in France.
After a nice downhill followed by a short climb, you will arrive at St Martial, a little village with its lake of thirteen acres. There you join the main group that will be descending directly from Gerbier-de-Jonc, thoughts still filled with the views of the pastoral landscapes highlands of the Ardèche..
