You will leave the “Châtaigne” itinerary in Freyssenet in the heart of the plateau du Coiron. Then you will pass through an important paleontological area before starting the descent to Alba la Romaine, a town without ramparts. This city was a hub from the 1st century BC until the 5th century AD. There are many ruins here to remind us of their glorious past. The most famous is the ancient theatre that welcomes every year, Theatre and Dance festivals.
You will discover the famous “Gorges de l’Ardèche”, once you leave the lavender fields and vineyards of the plateau de St Remèze.
You will then enter the world of the canoe. It is an exceptional area with an amazing landscape, and valuable for its natural, historic and prehistoric heritage. Les Gorges de l’Ardèche is probably one of the most beautiful natural sites in France.
Soon after, you will enter Ruoms then Balazuc, both ancient medieval villages.
Further on, you will be in Vinezac with its prehistoric heritage, beautiful dolmen, (raised stones) and wine vats used to make wine.
A few kilometres more and you will return to the Mountains of the Ardèche and find the Tanargue massif and its itinerary.
